Auricular Acupuncture

The ear is a valuable tool in rebalancing the body and provides an effective and accessible means of assistance at a fundamental level.

The ear functions as a minute representation of the body in the same way as the foot does in reflexology. Auricular acupuncture has been used in China since 500 BC, but has become more known in the West through the work of a French doctor, Paul Nogier. Disharmony within the body can be reflected onto the ear as an area of inflammation, dry skin, white or grey nodules and even scarring. These areas become electrically active and can be detected using a special point locator or by palpation with the blunt end of an acupuncture needle.

By using very small acupuncture needles, the acupuncturist can stimulate the energy at these points, helping to address imbalance in the body. Sometimes small plasters with little gold balls or seeds are left over certain points on the ear to maintain the affects of the session, and enable the client to be active in their own health by stimulating these specific areas.

As well as rebalancing the body, Auricular acupuncture facilitates chemical changes that occur within the bloodstream. Auricular acupuncture can be used with other styles of acupuncture or on its own.

ASP Needles Treatment

The ASP® needle (Semi-Permanent Needle, “A” is for Aiguille, meaning needle in French) comes in three kinds of metals. 90% of the times the gold ones are used for the Battlefield Acupuncture protocol.

The other metal types are stainless steel and titanium. They are single use needles that can stay in the ear for a few days.

When these needles are inserted into the Battlefield Acupuncture points (we call them zones now) they will have an incredible effect on your patient’s condition. These points/zones when used in a pattern can not only relieve pain, but many other conditions as well.

The ASP® needles are designed to stay in the ear for up to a few days. It is hypothesized that the needles send a message right to the healing centre in the brain to correct that patient’s pathology.

Ear Seeds Treatment

Small black seeds from the vaccaria plant or small metal beads or pellets are secured on the ear with a piece of adhesive tape over specific acupressure points.

The continuous mild pressure they exert is amplified by stimulating the seed or pellet with a few seconds of fingertip massage every few hours.

Ear seeds are non-invasive, meaning, unlike needles or tacks, they are affixed on the surface of the ear and do not puncture the skin

Needles Treatment

Fine, hair-like acupuncture needles (1/16th the width of a conventional hypodermic) are inserted into carefully selected acupuncture points.

The needles used are always new, are sterilised and disposable and are discarded after each treatment ensuring absolute safety.

After the needles have been inserted, the client may feel a numbness or slight tingling, however this sensation quickly subsides.
