Auricular Acupuncture in London

What Is Auricular Acupuncture?

The ear has long been used as an important microsystem within acupuncture practice. Similar to the principles used in reflexology, Auricular Acupuncture views the external ear as a representation of different areas of the body.

Ear acupuncture has roots in traditional Chinese practice and was further developed in the West through the work of French physician Dr Paul Nogier.

During a session, specific points on the ear are identified according to your individual needs. These points can then be stimulated using fine acupuncture needles, ASP needles or ear seeds.

Auricular Acupuncture can be used as a standalone complementary therapy or alongside other approaches as part of a personalised wellbeing plan.

Auricular Acupuncture Techniques at KeeCare

ASP Needle Treatment

ASP needles are very small, semi permanent needles designed specifically for use on the ear. They are available in different materials, including gold, stainless steel and titanium.

At KeeCare, ASP needles may be used as part of specific Auricular Acupuncture protocols, including Battlefield Acupuncture.

Unlike standard acupuncture needles that are removed during the session, ASP needles can remain in selected ear points for a short period, allowing continued stimulation after your appointment.

Your practitioner will explain their use and provide appropriate aftercare guidance when ASP needles are recommended.

Ear Seeds Treatment

Ear seeds offer a gentle and non invasive method of stimulating specific auricular points without puncturing the skin.

Small seeds, beads or pellets are carefully positioned on selected points of the outer ear and secured using adhesive tape.

You may be shown how to gently stimulate these points between appointments, allowing you to participate in your wellbeing routine outside the clinic.

Ear seeds can be particularly useful for people who prefer a needle free approach to auricular therapy.

Acupuncture Needle Treatment

Fine, sterile acupuncture needles can be inserted into carefully selected points on the outer ear according to your individual treatment plan.

The needles used at KeeCare are sterile, single use and safely disposed of following each session.

You may experience a mild tingling, warmth or temporary sensation around the point when a needle is inserted. Your practitioner will explain the process before beginning your treatment.

Battlefield Acupuncture

Battlefield Acupuncture is a specific form of Auricular Acupuncture developed by Dr Richard Niemtzow in the United States.

The technique uses selected points on the ear and typically involves small ASP needles.

Ravinder is trained in this approach and may consider it where appropriate as part of an individualised Auricular Acupuncture treatment plan.
